Ever since I first learned about Yogis Inspiring Oneness month, I have spent a lot of time thinking and dedicating my yoga practice to the concept of “oneness” (What is YIOM? Click here. To read my post on Oneness click here). But the other word I find myself living by almost every day but do not often talk about is inspiration. There are many ways to define inspiration but my two favorites are “arousal of the mind to special unusual activity or creativity” and “divine guidance: a special influence of a divinity on the minds of human beings” (From Google Dictionary). You can receive inspiration from a song, a flower, a smile, a yoga pose. This can lead you to inspire to write, sing, paint, or practice yoga. I love that inspiration can be a divine act. The universe is working through your physical body to produce something beautiful.
Two fellow yoginis and I, Faern at Faern Works and Tara at Imagine Balance, decided to get together and write a series on inspiration and yoga. What inspires us to get on our yoga mats? What inspiration do we take from our mats into the world? The expression of this very open assignment can vary significantly, which I find beautiful – each person on this planet can interpret the same word in completely different ways. I will be writing a post on each of their blogs and they will be writing a guest post each on mine. We have been working diligently in creating this inspiration series, which we are calling Beaming Diidhiti (Sanskrit for inspiration, devotion, power, brightness, light, splendor) and we hope you readers will enjoy!!
Technicalities - I have added Faern and Tara’s individual “buttons” on the right of my blog for easy access to their wonderful pages. For Tara’s intro post click here. For Faern’s click here. Embedded above this post I have included our own special logo for this series (Thank you Faern and Tara for creating this lovely little button!). We will be posting every Tuesday in April (so the next Beaming Diidhit post will be on Tuesday April 12th). If I were you I would get VERY excited – this is a true manifestation of an inspired moment of oneness.
