Being Enough

No one believes in their own magic anymore. Which, I guess isn’t that surprising. Our society doesnt want us to believe, because if we truly believed we were enough, why would we need fancy clothes and make up and all that? No, we have to continue to believe that only with the right things will we be OK.

What’s even more interesting is that we KNOW that even if we have all the coolest things, there’s someone always better than us. I remember learning that when I was younger. There is always someone better than you, prettier than you, funnier than you, yaddy yaddy yaddy. I guess that’s suppose to comfort us? Or maybe its suppose to make us fight harder? OR by acknowledging that we will never be good enough we should be satisfied with buying more things. Who knows what that phrase is supposed to achieve.

I’m here to tell you its all a big, fat, lie. There is NO ONE better than you. There is no one worse than you either. Everyone is just, unique. Every person in this world is enough just the way they are.
That may be hard to believe for some. I’m sure you can bring to mind at least a few people who are NOT enough in your mind. They are too this or too that. But have you ever stopped to consider that maybe that’s just your perseption of them? That in fact, to someone else they may be just fine? If the entire world was the way we wanted them to be, well, life would not be the wonderfully sweet surprise that it is now. We must allow everyone to be just as unique as they are. And maybe that won’t be the way you want them to be. But hey, I’m POSITIVE there are people out there who wish you were the way THEY wanted you to be. Such is life.

I am a big believer that everyone is inherently good. You might notice that even at your lowest point, when you feel the worse, there is still room in your heart for love. You see a cute fuzzy picture online and you melt. That tender heart, or Buddha nature, is always there ready to be accessed. That’s why I believe you’re perfect just the way you are. The reason there is so much violence in this world is partially because we are taught that there is something innately wrong with us, which can be fixed by achieving, attaining, and doing.

I urge you today to really believe your own magic. Believe you are beautiful. Believe you are wonderful. I promise you, you are enough.

Namaste.

My yoga card a couple Sundays back said…"you are totally adequate for all situations, you are enough, you have the power to just be you",and I've been repeating that I'm my head every min since I read it. I am enough. Those who try to make me more or less be warned,I love being me.

Oh my yes! I need to read this again today. It coincides happily with my other favorite post of the day about blogging and whether stats matter. I used much this same argument to explain that it does. But, oh my yes again! Remember to believe, to trust, to know that I am enough is a constant battle to remain in that space of truth.

YEEESSSS! Magic is everywhere – I like to start with nature. Walking my dogs every day and seeing the activity of birds, squirrels, and who knows what else in the trees reminds me how extraordinary life really is.

Beautiful post. Seems like you are writing this to us, but maybe a little to yourself as well.  You're wonderful too. <3

Great post! I was just thinking about this the other day…about my history and how it's affected my perception of self worth. I think being graded in school my entire life has had an impact on how I view myself and place my abilities in society. I need to explore these ideas more on my own…I appreciate you sharing your magic with us! :)

Leave some love!
