Holding Your Space

A little while ago I gave a special shout out to Diane, a blogger over at Simply Freckled. Diane’s simple words mirrors my heart. So when she expressed interest in doing a blog swap with me I was more than thrilled. You can catch my blog post over at her nook of the websphere here.

Please give Diane the warmest of welcome and comment down below! We’d love to hear your thoughts.

I feel the greatest gift we can offer others is to hold space for them.

Holding space for their greatness when they can’t see it.

Holding space for their success as they encounter obstacles on their path.

Holding space for their wellness in a time of illness and holding space for confidence when they are in a place of depression.
Holding space for someone is seeing straight through all the humanness of the person and looking directly at their spirit. It’s talking directly to their hearts and seeing only the goodness in the person.

Holding space is seeing only the potential for that person and offering an invisible hand to hold them steady and supported on their path. For those of us fortunate enough to have been in the presence of someone holding space for us, you will remember the feeling. It’s a feeling of intense love and acceptance. It’s a knowing that even if you trip and fall, you are still supported, that there is someone who is holding space for you to keep going.

Holding space is seeing someone with Namaste Eyes that say, “I see you, I honor you, you are beautiful, you are great”.

I encourage you to practice holding space for others as much as you can. They will feel it, you will feel it and watch how your friendships shift and flourish.

Holding space – I really like that!  I guess the last person who really was holding space for me was my mother. I sure hope that one day my kids can say that I was one of the people holding space for them. I am going to try holding space for a few more people in my life. Looking forward to seeing (and feeling) the results.

Diane, what a beautiful concept:Holding space for someone is seeing straight through all the humanness of the person and looking directly at their spirit. I used to look at friends and even strangers walking around me as bright and beautiful balls of light. Some shone brighter than others, but all had at least a flicker of white (even the bitter angry ones). I would also see how I could reach out with my light and cross the barrier to touch their light. I haven't "seen" with these eyes lately – but your post has reminded what a wonderful way to view the humanity around me. Thank you kindly for that.
